Alarm Grading

As the British Standards are coming to an end and the European Standards take over you will see alarm systems been graded. An alarm system is graded based on the security risk, the lowest grade system that Alpine Security installs is a Grade 2/2X.  

Grade 1

Grade 1 is a system where all parts used are no lower than Grade 1, this is the lowest of the graded systems this should be installed by professional and is recognized by some insurance companies, Grade 1 is suitable for some homes.  

Grade 2X

Grade 2X is a bells only system where all parts used are no lower than Grade 2 is professional installed and is recognized by insurance companies. Grade 2X is suitable for home or small businesses.

Grade 2

Grade 2 is a monitored system where all parts used are no lower than Grade 2, is professional installed and is recognized by insurance companies. This would qualify for a police response. Grade 2 is suitable for home or small businesses.

Grade 3

Grade 3 is a monitored system that must have dual path signalling such as DualCOM or RedCARE, all parts used are no lower than Grade 3 is professional installed and is recognized by insurance companies. This would qualify for a police response. Grade 3 is suitable for homes with high value good or businesses that are at reasonably high risk.

Grade 4

Grade 4 is a monitored system that must have dual path signalling such as DualCOM or RedCARE, all parts used are no lower than Grade 4, is professional installed and is recognized by insurance companies. This would qualify for a police response and in some cases an armed police response. Grade 4 is suitable very high risk properties such as banks.

Bells Only Alarm

Bells-only alarm, otherwise known as audible-only alarm, is a burglar alarm which makes only audible noise from the external and or internal sounders when the alarm is triggered. The bells-only alarm helps deter intruders and alert neighbours when the alarm activates but on its own will not generate police response. Alpine Security offer a speech dialler which will call you upon activation, this has a one off fee of around £95.00.

Speech Dialler

Speech diallers are designed to enable the alarm system to send messages to up to 3 people by calling them using the existing phone line and playing a pre-recorded message. However they do not make the burglar alarm qualify for police response. Speech diallers have a one off cost of £95.00. For more information about please see the Customer Downloads page.  

Digicom Monitored Alarm

A Digicom monitored burglar alarm is a house or business alarm which is connected to an alarm receiving centre (ARC) via your existing telephone line. The ARC receives signals from the monitored alarm system and monitors the protected premises 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and alerts the key holders and or the Police as necessary. All monitored alarm must have 2 key holders that do not live at the protected premises but live within a 20 minute drive.

DualCOM GPRS

A DualCOM GPRS monitored burglar alarm is a house or business alarm connected to an alarm receiving centre (ARC) using DualCOM, This is a real alternative to RedCARE. It is a dual path signalling method that works on any standard telephone line, It is a cheaper and more flexible alternative to RedCARE. It currently uses Vodaphone and Orange networks for its radio path signalling. DualCOM is available as a Grade 2, 3 or 4 signalling unit with difference in polling frequency being the determining factor (for a full specification please see our customer download page) The ARC receives signals from the DualCOM unit and monitors the protected premises 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and alerts the key holders and or the Police as necessary, all monitored alarm must have 2 key holders that do not live at the protected premises but live within a 20 minute drive.

RedCARE

A RedCARE monitored burglar alarm is a house or business alarm connected to an alarm receiving centre (ARC) using RedCARE. RedCARE is a dual path alarm signalling device. It ensures that the communication link between the security alarm system and the alarm receiving centre is working and continuously polled. BT Redcare portfolio includes RedCARE classic, RedCARE GSM, RedCARE secure and Redcare agile (for a full specification please see our customer download page) The ARC receives signals from the RedCARE unit and monitors the protected premises 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and alerts the key holders and or the Police as necessary all monitored alarm must have 2 key holders that do not live at the protected premises but live within a 20 minute drive.
